The (in)visibility of professional groups

Par : Contributeur(s) : Type de matériel : TexteTexteLangue : français Détails de publication : 2021. Sujet(s) : Ressources en ligne : Abrégé : This introduction offers a communicational approach to the (in)visibility of professional groups in the public sphere. In addition to the analyses devoted to the portrayal of labour that focus on the invisibilization of “real work” and relations of production, we aim at suggesting new research issues. This text builds a theoretical and conceptual framework that breaks with substantialist definitions of professions. It replaces such definitions by a processual and relational approach that emphasizes the processes of professionalization. We suggest to study the work of representation and argumentation within the public sphere insofar as it participates, with its own means, in the setting of professional groups and the building of their jurisdiction.
