Cette quête fusionnelle vers un objet archaïque improbable nourrit la passion mais n’est pas sans lien avec une limite mortifère qui a pu participer au recours à l’alcool chez Duras. Cet acte créateur qui dérive le fantasme vers une œuvre transmissible fait naître chez le lecteur une émotion qui donne à partager la passion selon la définition de la sublimation. The act of writing as exemplified by Marguerite Duras provides us with an eloquent illustration of passion, that of a subject in the grips of an extreme tension which combines both a sense of narcissistic elation and an intense suffering, the effects of which find bodily forms of expression. This quest for fusion with an improbable archaic object fuels the writer’s passion, but is not without clear links with the mortifying excesses of Marguerite Duras’s use of alcohol. The creative act, transforming fantasy into a transmissible work of literature, triggers an emotion in the reader which allows such passion to be shared, in the light of sublimation. The author of this article analyses the clinical case of Duras to set forward a definition of passion which is no longer an expression of servitude and sickness of the soul, but rather that of a desire for the absolute offering us a glimpse of the divine in humankind.
