Après quatre entretiens, la patiente effectue un travail psychique jusque-là impossible et est enceinte. Elle envisage alors un retour à son pays natal.

The Path to Becoming a Parent This article studies the case of an infertile woman of foreign descent receiving medically assisted procreation treatment in a Paris clinic and sheds light on the role of her overbearing mother in her sterility. The case illustrates the role played by self-imposed exile in a foreign country as a means of affirming individual sexual identity. After four sessions, the patient completed a phase of psychical work hitherto impossible and fell pregnant. She then went on to consider returning to live in her motherland.
