Currently, all neonatal units implement developmental care. Nevertheless, the degree of individualization of the environment and care according to the newborn’s needs, and the level of parent integration, make the difference in current approaches. These units become living spaces where parents and children get to know each other and form the bonds that are so crucial for optimizing the neurodevelopment of future adults.
