The northern region of The Beqaa valley (Lebanon) is experiencing a difficult pastoral situation. Since many years two juxtaposed catechistic tendencies are supported or held back by the respective local Maronite bishops. A great confusion results for the Christians in the region. The author first establishes the chronology of events and then presents the results of a small survey among the inhabitants of the region who remained and those who moved to Beirut. The survey (investigation) allows to better understand the influence of the catechistic tendencies on the religious education and the commitment to the Church life in this region. Of course, the results could not be generalized or applied on other regions although similar tendencies exist in other places of the country.
