Tripple bagging cowpea effect on market power of producers in the north of Burkina Faso

Par : Contributeur(s) : Type de matériel : TexteTexteLangue : français Détails de publication : 2025. Ressources en ligne : Abrégé : Triple bottom bags (or PICS bags) have brought much hope to West African countries for the conservation of agricultural products. Yet they struggle to spread because technical innovation is not accompanied by sufficient organizational and social change. Using several statistical, econometric and accounting analyses, the authors show that access to PICS bags to store cowpea in the northern region of Burkina Faso is part of a set of conditionalities such as access to credit, organizing groups for collective sales or seeking new outlets. These related innovations combine to give cowpea producers the ability to better negotiate their selling prices, improving their market power and consequently their incomes. (JEL: C01, D51, O13, O33).
