String figures are attested in many parts of the world. They are also present in New Caledonia and in the years 1965-1967 Françoise Ozanne-Rivierre carried out an anthropological fieldwork on the question in the Paicî-Cèmuhî region where she accompanied her husband on her first field mission to New Caledonia, in Touho’s aera. Some of her notes were written and accompanied by many handwritten notes, all totally unpublished.
