Withholding and withdrawing treatment in children: What are the ethical problems?
Type de matériel :
2
The aim of this publication is to explore the ethical issues in decision-making on withholding and withdrawing treatment in children. The first difficulty is in identifying unreasonable obstinacy. Intentionality, the singularity of situations, the recourse to dual effect theory, and uncertainty are studied. The role of parents is also discussed. Collegiality and an ethical approach inspired by Ricœur’s thinking are proposed as a possible way to resolve some of the ethical issues.
