Newborn hearing screening (NHS) is offered to all newborns. This study’s purpose was to evaluate the perception of mothers in the Pays de la Loire region of France. Results showed that mothers were not particularly concerned and were somewhat satisfied. However, some mothers seemed in need of more information and 22 percent did not understand that they could refuse the procedure. Moreover, an inadequately short reflection period reduced the comprehension of NHS. Upstream and specific information for mothers could help to improve this perception.
