Irrationality and lockdown: An iatrogenic psychiatric pandemic in the twenty-first century

Par : Type de matériel : TexteTexteLangue : français Détails de publication : 2020. Sujet(s) : Ressources en ligne : Abrégé : We propose an analysis of the irrational factors at work in the choice of the generalized lockdown strategy during the COVID-19 pandemic. Describing a “field” experience in the health and social care sector first allows us to highlight the concrete impact of these factors. We then develop an alternative line of reasoning to the dominant one that led to the imposition of this generalized lockdown with its damaging effects. We dig deeper into the psychopathological elements the pandemic has highlighted and which underlie its iatrogenic aspects. Finally, we discuss the French health technostructure’s management of the crisis, which also attests to a form of irrationality with a serious impact on psychiatry.
