The dark side of personality: History, taxonomy, and semiology of antisocial personality

Par : Contributeur(s) : Type de matériel : TexteTexteLangue : français Détails de publication : 2023. Sujet(s) : Ressources en ligne : Abrégé : A society is balanced when its members agree to engage in legally and morally compliant behavior. Medical practitioners and psychologists have long demonstrated that some individuals are incapable of such moral conformity, which comes with serious social consequences. Nevertheless, understanding these “asocial” individuals and their psychic functioning remains a challenging issue, notably because of the diversity of available concepts and lack of consensus. The first goal of this study is to present the concepts and taxonomies available, from the first clinical descriptions of perversion and psychopathy to modern correlation studies. The second goal is to explain the semiology, notably the relational processes of people with antisocial personalities and their effects on victims, to improve clinical investigation, diagnosis, and the care of both. The challenge is to nurture clinical listening and observation, and enable clinicians to name these processes to support both the subjects concerned and their victims.
