The clinic of hysterical attacks described in the Salpetri?re by Charcot and his students led to the identification of a memory delusion indicating the resolution of fits and characterising the affliction as a psychic illness. Many of Freud's theoretical developments reveal the trace of this past of which they are an extension. Today, in the treatment, the framework of the session itself is what constitutes the hysterical attack. Ignoring this can lead to an interminable analysis.
