In the diversity of clinical psychiatry, the breakdown of mentalization can be directly experienced in oneself, or masked by defensive or compensatory reactions which are just as psychically based. But, in the specific field of psychosis, there is an additional contradiction that a fundamental impossiblility in thinking leds the subject to a paradoxical excess of mentalization and keeps him in anxious and attentive overtones concerning his psychic life, which is very different from what escapes from this mentalization for a logic of another order in the psychosomatic process.
