Psychoeducational parental guidance in autism in Côte d’Ivoire: Initial results of the “Répit” project

Par : Contributeur(s) : Type de matériel : TexteTexteLangue : français Détails de publication : 2024. Sujet(s) : Ressources en ligne : Abrégé : Autism is a challenge for the scientific world, which is constantly striving to define it in order to serve it better. For the parents of autistic children, autism is a wound that is as painful as it is monstrous. The idea of bringing together the world of research and the reality of families in Côte d’Ivoire is intended to combine the effects and efforts needed to achieve a better understanding of autism. The aim of setting up a parental psychoeducational guidance service is to carry out a micro-assessment of the current state of parental actions in relation to their child with autism, and to offer them multidimensional support to improve their understanding of the disability and the individual and unique functioning of their autistic child, and to revise their educational practices in the interests of joint comfort (parents, siblings, and child). The main objective is to help families live better with autism in its enigmatic truth, to help them live better with autistic children in their developmental particularity and personality, and to deploy optimal psychoeducational skills to the satisfaction of all. The authors take a closer look at this issue, based on the implementation of a family support scheme in Abidjan and Yamoussoukro called the “Répit” project.
