What could their doubts tell us about a structural moment that also concerns young people who are socially adrift—i.e., their refusal to accept the last stage in the paternal metaphor, the emergence of the Name-of-the-Father? This refusal can be clinically illustrated in literature through the story of Robinson Crusoe. The identification of a few structural points on the context of his boarding might help to account for 28 years of isolation removed from any alterity. Thus, the denial of the signifying dimension leads a subject to have no place and no encounters.
