A Zoom evening with La Femme de ma vie. When lockdown theater is performed online and in person

Par : Contributeur(s) : Type de matériel : TexteTexteLangue : français Détails de publication : 2023. Sujet(s) : Ressources en ligne : Abrégé : While in 2020 the French public was subjected to periods of lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic, new ways of consuming culture involved, among other things, a repurposing of the media. Several cultural innovations were born online, such as the creation of the website www.directautheatre.com, led by actor Robert Plagnol, who was behind the creation of Andrew Payne’s play La Femme de ma vie, which he performed live on Zoom. We study the way in which the online device reconfigures both the epiphany of a play and the perimeter of the spectatorial experience, circumscribed by the formal arrangements deployed. We draw on an analysis of two performances in December 2020 and March 2021, informed by an interview with the actor behind the site, as well as a focus group and three semi-structured interviews with spectators who had bought tickets themselves.
