The mentions of the clepsydra, perceived in the light of approaches on the dramatisation of political life, are a means for the litigants to underline the spectacle they present to the jurors. Concerning the longer time span, the distinction between recent and older past appears, through the age differences made between the jurors by the speakers, to be flexible and not fixed, contrary to our contemporary practices.
