Fraternal relations between children in a foster family

Par : Type de matériel : TexteTexteLangue : français Détails de publication : 2019. Sujet(s) : Ressources en ligne : Abrégé : The fraternal relationship is a unique experience affecting most individuals. Yet this singular relationship can be weakened by separations during childhood. This is the case in child protection, where placement measures often lead to the separation of siblings and induce complex relationships between children. This article presents the results of research work with 25 children entrusted to the child welfare services and placed in foster care. Based on an analysis of interviews with the children, but also with siblings, children from the foster family and other children entrusted to the family, the author identifies six configurations expressing different fraternal relationships ranging from exclusivity to a multiplicity of fraternal bonds. This provides a new interpretation of the variety of fraternal relations prevailing in foster care.
