Résumé Le tour d'écrou d'Henry James est un analyseur opérant du rôle des fantasmes originaires en psychopathologie infantile. La souffrance et les traces mnésiques du traumatisme sont traitées dans la création littéraire grâce à la contenance et au pouvoir transformationnel de la mise en conte. Le fantôme en tant qu'objet transgénérationnel élaboré comme objet littéraire peut être représenté, nommé, et sa charge affective peut être retournée sur un versant positif tolérable et supportable par le moi.

The turn of the screw written by Henry James shows the crucial part of originary fantasies in child psychopathology. The ghost of Peter Quint represents a transgenerational object, meaningful when refered to the family group history. This ghost is a condensation and an elaboration of traumatic experiences from the author's childhood. These sufferings have undergone a creative treatment. Through the tale of fantasy anxiety and affects, reactivated by the internal presence of the ghost, are contained and transformed.
