In this interview, Marcel Van der Linden first looks back at his career path as an historian of labor movements, at his involvement in the far left until the direction of the International Institute of Social History. He notably presents the turning point of global history which enabled the recent renewal of the history of social movements, especially the labor solidarities. He also looks back at the Marxist interpretations of the Soviet regime to which he devoted a specific book. Finally, he offers, from his historian knowledge, a reading of the evolutions of contemporary social movements.
