This article offers a helpful introduction to the issue of aid to the press in Senegal and other related issues. It attempts to bridge the gap in terms of monographic work conducted in this field with a view to both its continuity and dynamics. As such, it is a real insight into countries (reference is made to Benin) rarely mentioned in such works. The interest of this article lies in its approach of deconstructing the mollifying discourses and representations, while suggesting new avenues worth exploring to rethink the press aid mechanism in Senegal, operating as it has since 1996.
