The legacy and vicissitudes of transmission in families in difficulty confront the professionals who care for them with their own modalities of transmission. Drawing on a clinical case, the author shows how family problems contaminate the functioning of institutions. Recourse to “network linking” allows for an affiliative meshing, which is the only means of offering families possible ways out of transgenerational repetition.
