We present the case of a four-year-old child in pediatric care at the Robert Ballanger intercommunal hospital centre within the framework of the femicide protocol, after she had witnessed the attempted spousal homicide by her father. First, we will give a detailed description of the clinical observation during the intervention of the child psychiatric liaison team, and then of the first follow-up consultations. We will go on to discuss the content of the sessions in the immediate period following the trauma and try to form hypotheses about the child’s psychic representations in this period. We will conclude by looking more closely at two particular aspects of this provision of care with reference to the current literature: the use of play as therapeutic mediation in the immediate post-traumatic period of care, and the interest of protocol care for these children.
