Is it possible to speak of ordinary inventiveness—that is, inventiveness in everyday life? With regard to transference links—which are not of an everyday nature, but do hinge on everyday life—inventiveness always seems to be extraordinary. We see it arise most often in the backdrop of patient activities. The story that is told during the session generally leads to unusual combinations according to the ideas that spring to mind at the time. These take place in the dynamic of transference, the bonds of which are renewed in a way that can be labeled as inventive and/or unprecedented.
