Lacan’s Other is first of all set up as a place of the word in truth, which is added to Freud’s other scene, in which no word dwells, but rather letters and images knotted according to jouissance. The Other as body is tied to the Other of language to compensate for the fact that the Other of sex does not comprise an articulation between two sexes as such.
