The most important Indochina war film-maker is Pierre Schoendoerffer, veteran of the Cinematographic Service of the French Army (1952-1954). He was a witness of the events he now tells us through his movies and books. Thus, in Di?n Bi?n Ph?, he shows, for the first time on screen, a collection of warriors' portraits, among which?: a DC3?pilot, a Vietnamese officer enlisted in the French army, and one of the deserters called ? Nam Youn rats ?. These original figures allow us to renew and broaden our recollections and the historical presentation of the Indochina war and its soldiers thanks to a mass medium?: cinema.
