The French Red Cross represents no less than 18,000 employees, 60,000 volunteers, 20,000 students and 1,750 branches. It is now facing an unprecedented increase in needs –an additional 1 million people to take care of within ten years, 13 million people suffering from digital exclusion, etc. Unfortunately, it is also facing the decline in subsidies, public generosity and volunteering. Thus, it is redefining itself by becoming more agile and developing cooperation with associations and companies. Indeed, the challenges are such that non-profit organisations world will not be enough to achieve them. It needs to innovate in order to adapt to changing needs and techniques. It also needs to listen to local players who, in contact with needs, invent solutions. It has therefore created a social innovation accelerator, for internal projects, to encourage ‘intrapreneurship’ among its employees and volunteers, as well as for external projets, to support and accompany the entrepreneurial projects of associations or even companies.
