Multi-instrumentalist and composer Anthony Braxton has gradually established a musical system rejecting dichotomies and binary thinking, in three successive stages: an architectural, philosophical, and a ritual/ceremonial stage. The latter incorporates all previous ones in a mythological ensemble in perpetual construction, of the order of a “meta-reality.” This makes the musician into an esoteric storyteller serving a sound utopia from which emanates a desire for another possible world, through exploration of a multitude of inter-penetrating logics, structures, and cultures.
