Intervening in Reality during Treatment of Children in Foster Care
Type de matériel :
12
Doing psychotherapy with children placed in foster care is difficult. These children strongly avoid dealing with their psychic reality on one hand, and on the other the problems of external reality are invasive and interfere with the treatment. Rather than ignore these incursions of external reality, it is preferable to take them into account, even to intervene in this concrete reality. Such an intervention of psychoanalysis in reality, however unorthodox it may seem, has proven to be an important way of gaining access to the psychic reality of these children, thus allowing these therapies to result in real changes.
