From the Double-You to the Double-I. The Subjectivation Process during an Adolescent Psychodrama

Par : Type de matériel : TexteTexteLangue : français Détails de publication : 2013. Sujet(s) : Ressources en ligne : Abrégé : This paper addresses the work of figuration through the case of an adolescent patient treated using psychodrama. Thanks to a specific use of the function of the double established by the patient, the treatment makes the subjectivation process possible. After discussing the themes of the double, the Greek origins of the term, and its function, this paper reviews Sigmund Freud’s views on these subjects. The double acts as an alter-ego who is sufficiently close and available to withstand the frustration of that which is constrained. During the psychodrama, the function of the double is particularly pertinent and useful for adolescents dealing with the drive adjustment they face. It is often necessary to imagine an externalized and narcissistic double, allowing the adolescent to have a connection to the object which remains at a tolerable distance. The clinical example discussed here will illustrate the three phases of the process of integrating the figures of the double and the work of subjectivation: projection upon the figure of the double, recognition of affect in the double, re-introjection of this double in an almost corporal way. This clinical case reveals the process of appropriation and subjectivation.
