This paper assesses the contribution of relaxation and hypnosis to the treatment of pain and fatigue caused by fibromyalgia (as diagnosed according to the criteria of the American College of Rheumatology). 59 patients were recruited from two pain clinics over a two-year period. They received eight 30-minute sessions of one of the three following corporal techniques: Jacobsonian relaxation, relaxation hypnosis, and hypnoanalgesia. None of the techniques showed statistically significant improvements in terms of pain or fatigue. However, the qualitative analysis of results revealed that the majority of participants were satisfied by the addition of psychocorporal techniques to their medical treatments.
