Freud’s Sublimation

— Sublimation is both a metapsychological process of transformation of the drive and an object-aim of value. The author considers that it is not observable in the session and proposes that a sign, the jouissance of the said, is its precursor. The psychic aspect of analysis is highlighted to the detriment of the anchoring of the drive in the biological body. Sublimation is no longer linked, as it seems to be in Freud, to the death drive.
