Jacques Press’ paper, considered in the light of the Warburg case and especially his references to Winnicott, lead the author to discuss the heterogeneous aspect of constructions in both psychoanalysis and psychiatry. In the light of both his theory of the misunderstanding of dependence and that of the decondensation of the primary object, Winnicott’s theory of regression is considered by the author to be situated between the objectal function as such and the environmental function. A certain number of therapeutic consequences of the « reconstruction » of the environment in the case of psychotics are evoked, with particular mention made in passing of the distinction between holding and receptivity.
