The subject of this article is the rites of passage of disabled children : the transition periods that take place in “ordinary” socializing and educational institutions as well as the entrance into a setting for people with special needs. It is precisely the specificities and the importance of the child’s disabilities that are highlighted in order to access to the different services. From the perspectives of practice of psychologists and accounts of parents published in a professional journal, this article shows the difficulties and the capacities that families are facing to accompany their child during these rites. It is focused on the role of special magazines considered as a community of practices.
