Recent publications of public authorities have highlighted the necessity to rethink the intervention strategies toward parents and children. Given the impact of new families’ structures on children and using economic arguments to support their conclusions, these publications call for the development of effective and efficient evidence-based strategies. Through content analysis, this paper examines French and American political publications from 2007 to 2013, in order to document these new parenting support policies, using a sociological and comparative methodology. New families’ structures, new means of intervention and the recourse to scientific data are identified as the principal discursive categories of this period of time.
