A part of the French population identifies itself to the actors of the Middle East conflict. The young of immigrant ancestry, who feel rejected and are still looking for their own place within the French society, identify themselves to the Palestinians and borrow from them both the status of “victim” and the Intifada led against the Israeli government. At the same time, part of the Jew community recognizes itself in Israel and its policy, going so far as to put into question France’s foreign policy in that region. In order to lead the struggle against anti-Semitism and all forms of racism generated by those tensions, the French Communist Party supports a political solution to this conflict, counting on social progress, education, and culture which are the only ways to develop a genuine acquaintance of the Other leading to peace.
