The Chevalerie Ogier in rhymed alexandrines: An edition of the first fifteen laisses
Type de matériel :
82
This article presents a critical edition of the first fifteen laisses (594 verses) of the Chevalerie Ogier in rhymed alexandrines from the four known manuscript witnesses. This edition, the result of master’s research by P. Winling, under the direction of M. Ott, at the University of Strasbourg in 2015–16, proposes that the work should be dated to 1360 or later. It is suggested that the text originates from the northeast Picard region. The extract under discussion allows us to discuss the qualities of the Paris manuscript ( P). The edited text, which follows P, is accompanied by variants of the other three manuscripts, explanatory notes, and the rubrics at the top of the laisses in the Chantilly manuscript.
