Forming an intention to act on Facebook after receiving a recommendation

Par : Type de matériel : TexteTexteLangue : français Détails de publication : 2024. Ressources en ligne : Abrégé : This study aims to analyze the formation of the intention to act based on the trust placed in the person who made a recommendation on social networking sites. It is inspired by uncertainty reduction theory. Using data collected from 208 Facebook users in Cameroon, we use structural equation modeling (the PLS method) to test our research hypotheses. The results reveal that the intention to act is determined by the trust placed in the contact making the recommendation. This trust is derived stems solely from the similarity between the user and the contact making the recommendation, while proximity, past experience, and posting behavior present negative or non-significant effects. Finally, they demonstrate that reliable relationships are essentially an extension of existing relationships formed in the real world.
