Assessment and Prospects – Practice and Research in Adult Education in Quebec (2000-2020)

Today, it is mainly oriented towards the work environment. In Quebec, adult education research has covered three main fields: literacy, workplace learning, and the role of trainers. This review shows that between 2000 and 2020, the number of published doctoral research projects related to adult education has increased, most of them being conducted in organizational settings. Today, adult education in Quebec is undergoing a major transition due to technology-based learning. In this context, the development of digital literacy skills has become a major issue.

Since the Quiet Revolution, the contribution of adult education in Quebec has evolved from offering a second chance pathway, to becoming the catalyst of a changing society.
