At a time when the crisis in all sectors of pediatrics has led the authorities to organize a series of conferences on pediatrics and child health, and in a context where prevention remains a “poor relation” in health policy, the maternal and child health protection (PMI) system has a unique place in the preventive health system. It is essential to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the PMI, as well as the remedies to be found, both in terms of its direct action to promote the health of young children and its role in institutions that are essential to their development and socialization, namely childcare facilities.
