This article aims to answer an important question: how can the radicalization of certain young people living in deprived urban zones be explained? The authors have used biographical interviews about life trajectories as a methodology, taking as a model Khaled Kelkal. The trajectory of this young man, his different pathways followed on a variety of levels (family, school, employment, religion) can serve as an explanatory, though not exhaustive, model for understanding the process of radicalization.
