Competition and fundraising by calls for public generosity in the social and medico-social sector

Par : Type de matériel : TexteTexteLangue : français Détails de publication : 2021. Sujet(s) : Ressources en ligne : Abrégé : The large and growing number of organizations that appeal to public generosity, as well as the diversification of collection methods, are creating an increasingly competitive situation. This competition takes place in a context that does not really allow donors to make informed choices. In particular, the obligation to publish accounts, including an account specifically showing the use of the resources collected, is complied with by less than half of organizations involved. Moreover, the mandatory publication procedures make the published accounts, when they are published, not very visible to donors. In the social and medico-social sector more than in some other sectors, competition takes place in the context of a mix between calls for public generosity and public action. Agencies often intervene in fields covered in principle by public policies, without their respective fields of action being clearly delimited. The combined financing of many organizations through public generosity and as operators of public policies makes effective transparency all the more necessary.
