RésuméEn Espagne, les exhumations des personnes exécutées sommairement pendant la guerre civile espagnole ont déclenché un débat sur la mémoire de la guerre civile et la dictature franquiste. Pour la première fois en soixante-dix ans, le pacte du silence a été brisé. À partir de données ethnographiques portant sur les exhumations de fosses communes, cet article questionne la manière dont l’oubli et la mémoire ont été utilisés comme instrument politique en Espagne tout au long du xxe siècle.

The exhumation of corpses of people executed during the Spanish civil war has opened an interesting debate on the memory of the civil war and Franco’s dictatorship, breaking for the first time in seventy years the pact of silence that made of the wartime a taboo. Drawing from ethnographic data and fieldwork conducted during the exhumation of different communal graves, this paper aims at exploring the implications of bringing to light a memory kept in silence for decades. It questions too the way oblivion and memory have been used as political tools in Spain all through the 20th century.

ZusammenfassungDie Exhumierung von Personen, die während des spanischen Bürgerkriegs hingerichtet wurden, hat in Spanien eine Debatte über die Erinnerung an der Bürgerkrieg und die Diktatur unter Franko ausgelöst. Zum ersten Mal seit siebzig Jahren wurde der Pakt des Schweigens gebrochen. Ausgehend von ethnographischen Daten über Exhumierungen von Massengräbern hinterfragt dieser Artikel die Art und Weise wie im Spanien des 20. Jahrhunderts Vergessen und Erinnerung als politisches Instrument genutzt wurden.
