Quand tourner en dérision signifie montrer le ridicule, mépriser, souligner l’insignifiance, alors la dérision devient un redoutable instrument de jugement social, de défoulement et d’agression... mais aussi parfois d’innovation, car en contestant on s’affirme et on s’oppose à des codes existants pour en proposer d’autres. Mais l’intérêt d’une question comme la dérision tient aussi à l’ambiguïté de ses effets. Ainsi quand la dérision se fait catharsis elle peut être appréciée comme une respiration nécessaire à l’intérieur de cadres existants pour mieux les renforcer.

Powers of derision, derision of powersBringing into derision, despising, pointing out the insignificance are the characteristics associated to derision, which make it a powerfull tool of social judgement, of unwinding and aggression but also of innovation. In fact, by protesting we affirm ourselves and we oppose to existing codes in order to propound new ones. But the interest of the question of derision comes also from the ambiguity of its effects. Derision could be considered as a necessary breathing inside existing frames in order to better strenghten them. Derision is, in this case, a catharsis.
