Dans cette étude, nous examinons comment Léon Walras analyse l’évolution économique vers le stade la plus avancé de l’histoire de l’humanité au plan économique, ce qu’il nomme le « régime industriel et commercial ». Cela nous permettra de découvrir ses idées relatives à l’« industrie moderne » et aussi d’examiner la manière dont il conçoit la révolution industrielle, le rôle du machinisme et les rapports entre la science et l’industrie. La première partie présente la théorie walrassienne des différents stades d’évolution de la société. La seconde partie se focalise sur les caractéristiques de l’ « état industriel et commercial » et les perspectives d’avenir envisagées par Léon Walras.Codes JEL : B12

Hopes and Threats of the « Industrial and Commercial Regime » of Humanity According to Léon WalrasIn this study, we examine how Léon Walras considered the economic evolution towards the most advanced stage of the history of mankind, the so-called “industrial and commercial regime”. This enables us to present his ideas concerning the “modern industry” and also to examine the way in which he conceived the industrial revolution, the role of mechanization and the relationship between science and industry. The first part presents the Walrasian theory of the various stages of evolution of the mankind.
