Speaking about one’s work with suffering patients, their children, and the professionals who support them implies taking into account the internal and external constraints to which they are all subject. The discontinuous time of addiction, the drawn out time of pregnancy, the precipitate time of birth, the time of growing up, the time of healing, the time of thinking, and the time of acting: psychic temporalities and professional obligations are both condensed and in conflict. Added to this already familiar scenario is the silent reduction of imprecise and informal times of exchange and thinking, the constraint of writing a case report, and a culture of results that disturbs the unstable balances established.
