To support those in great difficulty, we need to gain their trust and confidence, enabling them to find a more viable physical, psychological, and social space—in other words, to come together to find their own reasons for existence. This is done through a discreet fraternity to which we can never do justice, and by interrogating the effects of speech and writing in terms of what they transmit. Writing opens up the prospect of a new life.
