La littérature sur la place du chercheur en sciences sociales et sur les liens pratique-recherche est prolifique. Cependant, elle explore peu le cas du « praticien devenant chercheur » en gestion, défini dans cet article par son expérience et identité préexistantes, sa familiarité avec le terrain, et une expérience de transition. L’analyse de quatre auto-ethnographies montre que le PDC adopte trois pratiques pour cette transition : se nommer pour exister, gérer les préconceptions liées à son terrain, et s’élever théoriquement en partageant sa réflexivité. Ces résultats enrichissent les travaux existants sur la préconception et offrent des recommandations pratiques pour gérer cette transition.

The literature on the role of the researcher in social sciences and the links between practice and research is prolific. However, it seldom explores the case of the “practitioner becoming a researcher” in management. This article examines this pathway, looking at pre-existing experience and identity, familiarity with the field, and the transition experience. The analysis of four autoethnographies shows that practitioners becoming researchers adopt three practices for this transition: naming themselves to establish their existence, managing preconceptions related to their field, and gaining traction for their theories by sharing their reflexivity. These results enrich existing work on preconception and offer practical recommendations for managing this transition.
