Ce texte a deux objectifs : le premier est d’introduire les lecteurs de la revue à un champ de recherche international souvent méconnu en Crance, la psychologie culturelle, en présentant à la fois ses origines, ses revues, ses sociétés, ses auteurs et les courants de ce champ en voie de constitution. Je second objectif est de favoriser la connaissance d’un des théoriciens et fondateurs de ce champ, Jaan Valsiner, professeur de psychologie à Université Clark (Etats-Unis). Le texte propose de suivre la pensée de cet auteur à travers la lecture détaillée et systématique d’un de ses ouvrages, Culture in Minds and Societies. Foundations of Cultural Psychology ( 2007), incluant la traduction de certains concepts et passagesjugés importants.

This text has two aims: the first is to introduce the readers of this journal to an international field of research called “cultural psychology”, a field which is only partially known in France. In this text, the origins, the journals, the societies, the authors and the trends of this emerging field will be presented. The second aim of this text is to improve the knowledge of Jaan Valsiner’s works. He is one of the founders and the major authors of this field and works as a professor in psychology at Clark’s University (USA). In this text, the readers will find a systematic reading of one of his books, Culture in Minds and Societies. Foundations of Cultural Psychology (2007), including an attempt to translate certain important concepts and extracts into French.
