Michel Serres knew and recognized our incoercible and existential need for narrative: the tales, myths, and stories that populate and nourish the imagination, stimulate reason, and soothe tensions. As a storyteller and writer, the philosopher-mathematician was able to combine the dual dimension of “stylist and grammarian”. All his works testify to this. Plato remains the backdrop of a type of writing within which narrative and demonstration blend in harmony. As a philosopher of bindings, not of divisions, Michel Serres brought to light the virtue of narrative, whether big or small, its ability to unite that which, without it, would remain without substance, scattered, or perhaps silent.
